To all the would be phalarope twitchers out there...
Just a gentle reminder that the Tankatara Salt Pans are actually on private property and that, as per my initial email alert yesterday, permission should be sought first before going on to the property. Apparently, some people have gone on to the property this morning without having arranged permission first and this is getting the owners/managers quite upset at the moment. Please don’t spoil it for all of those other people that still want to get there to see the birds, some of whom are travelling from right across the country. Let’s all be responsible about this and not give twitchers a bad name.
As a reminder, the person to contact is Petrus Lampbrecht at 082 653 3421. Please go through the right channels to arrange your access and don’t be selfish and spoil it for others who are still on their way there. I hope all of you will heed this request – just think that if another mega turns up at this property again in the future, we are all going to want access to it then too and, if we behave badly this time, they are not going to allow us on to the property next time! |

Good luck if you are planning on chasing it and keep us updated!
Kind regards Trevor |
