Good morning all SARBN subscribers,
This is a non-rarity related post, but I share very few of these with all of you, so I hope you won’t mind this one… and perhaps many of you might even be interested in considering this.
From 19 to 23 July 2025, there is a chance to join a birding trip in the Kruger National Park. But it’s not just any birding trip at one of the normal camps, it is an opportunity to spend time in an area that is, otherwise, not really accessible to the general public, and birders of course. Chiefs Tented Camps and Kruger Untamed have put together a trip which will comprise 2 nights at the Tshokwane River Camp and 2 nights at the Satara Plains Camp. These are camps that are specifically set up for just a few months every year and then totally removed again after that, leaving no trace of them once they are gone. If you would like to find out a little more about these camps, please have a look at https://krugeruntamed.com/

If this catches your attention, then perhaps you want to know a little more about this specific trip. It’s going to be fantastic with great birds and, hopefully, many other cool critters as well. The only downside to the whole thing is that I will be there to spend some time birding with you…J But I will try and be on my best behaviour and work hard to find some cool birds… perhaps we’ll even get lucky and find a mega reverse migrant rarity at one of these camps. Just imagine the blocker that would be if nobody else could get there to see it…J One can always dream…!
Alright, enough waffling, if you’re interested in finding out more about this trip, or in booking one of the limited spots available, pop over to https://chiefstentedcamps.co.za/bookings/birding-safari-kruger/ to secure your spot.
I look forward to hopefully seeing some of you there and getting to share some awesome birds and birding with you…J
Kind regards
Trevor
