FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

SA Sets Calendar for VPMA Vacancy, Other Elections Abound

Binghamton, NY, 8/27/07 – The Student Association Executive Board has determined the election calendar intending to fill the vacancy of Vice President for Multicultural Affairs. Chairing the election committee will be Sandra Dube, current Vice President for Programming. Dube's experience includes being involved as a candidate in the past three SA election cycles, in addition to garnering election administration experience at the community level through her role as president of College-in-the-Woods. The committee itself consists of members of the SA executive branch.

Letters of intent are open as of today, and will remain so until September 10th, 2007 at 5pm. All letters of intent should be submitted either to the SA office or directly via e-mail to Sandra Dube, v...@sa.binghamton.edu. That evening at 5:30pm will be a mandatory candidates meeting led by Dube, explaining procedure and preparing candidates for their run. On September 18th, students across campus will have the opportunity to meet and greet the candidates during "sweeps," which are scheduled to take place in each community as well as at one central location for off campus students. The election itself will take place on September 19th and 20th, with results being announced later that evening.

In addition to the VPMA vacancy, there are currently several other elections taking place across campus allowing Binghamton students to get involved. Those interested in running for seats on the Student Assembly should contact Assembly Chair Eric Katz, asse...@sa.binghamton.edu. Additionally, those interested in running for positions in student groups or at the community government level should contact Executive Vice President Joseph Danko, e...@sa.binghamton.edu.
