GYM CLASS HEROES WIN MTV HONORS BEFORE CAMPUS PERFORMANCE

Binghamton, NY, 9/9/2007 – MTV's Video Music Awards are always the talk of the entertainment industry with major performances and celebrities prone to make spectacles of themselves. However, this year's VMAs gave Binghamton University students an extra thing to talk about when Gym Class Heroes, the band scheduled to perform for the upcoming Homecoming celebration, won "Best New Artist" against other newly popular household names such as Carrie Underwood and Amy Winehouse.

Student Association Vice President for Programming, Sandra Dube, called the win "an added plus" but was also confident that students would attend the concert with or without the VMA win because they wouldn't want to miss out on what she calls an "excellent performance." Gym Class Heroes are coming to campus as part of the Verizon Wireless Tour, and are being joined by other up and coming artists such as The Pack.

Dube, who as Vice President also chairs the Student Association Programming Board, the body that brings these acts to campus, says tickets are selling fast, and that students should "run, skip or even swim to the nearest computer with Ticketmaster or the SA Box Office because who knows when tickets can sell out at this rate."

Tickets are still available online at sa.binghamton.edu and the SA Box Office, located in the Old University Union lobby, at $10 for registered students at $17 for the public. The event is taking place in the West Gym, with doors opening at 6pm. For more information, contact the Student Association office at 607-777-7777 or getin...@sa.binghamton.edu.

The Student Association at Binghamton University is a student run government operating within the State University of New York for over fifty years. Considered one of the most effective student governments in the nation, the SA acts as the main facilitator of student activities on campus, as well as a major contributor to the services students use day in and day out.
