FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

STUDENT GROUPS LOOK TO STIR INTEREST AT FAIR

Binghamton, NY, 9/18/07 – The Student Association's Student Group Showcase will take place on Thursday, September 20th from 12pm to 6pm in the Old University Union's Mandela Room. The event, which includes free giveaways and live performances, is meant to serve as a "one-stop-shop" for Binghamton University students to find the perfect organization that grabs their interest.

Joseph Danko, Executive Vice President of the Student Association, expects the Showcase to have excellent attendance by both student groups and students looking for something to get involved with on campus. "The Student Association offers close to 130 student groups to choose from, as well as a multitude of club and intramural sports. I think any student would be hard pressed to leave the room without finding something they'd be interested in."

Students will have an opportunity to sign up to receive more information about any student group they saw at the fair at the Showcase Information Booth. Danko, who as EVP oversees the operations of all student groups on campus, points out that in the rare event a student doesn't find what they're looking for, any student can approach the SA and start their own organization to meet an interest not already met. Giveaways at the event will include Student Association mugs and free ice cream, and performances will include some of the SA's best student groups live, such as Sul Poong, the Korean percussion team.

For more information on the event, contact the office of the Executive Vice President at e...@sa.binghamton.edu or by phone at 607-777-4296.

The Student Association at Binghamton University is a student run government operating within the State University of New York for over fifty years. Considered one of the most effective student governments in the nation, the SA acts as the main facilitator of student activities on campus, as well as a major contributor to services students use each day.
