STUDENTS CHOOSE NEW CAMPUS LEADERS IN MIDTERM ELECTION
Binghamton, NY, 9/20/07 – After a two-day election held by the Student Association this week, the students have elected a new Vice President for Multicultural Affairs, and new members to join Harpur College Council and BU Council.
VPMA candidate, David Redbord, won after a three-way race for the position left vacant earlier this semester by Rabeel Patoli, capturing 54.5 percent of the vote. "The student body has entrusted me with this position. I can ensure the work has just begun. Expect to see a lot of effort out of the VPMA's office this year," stated Redbord, after learning of the outcome.
Christopher Powell, the Student Association's current Vice President for Finance, has been elected with 57 percent of the vote to sit on the BU Council. "I will continue to pursue my promise on bridging the gap between the administration and the student body", Powell said.
Emelyne Baucicaut, who ran uncontested, is the newest member to join Harpur College Council as at-large student representative.
