____________________________________________________

Dear South African Ultimate,

We are very excited to host the Open and Womens Nationals 2016 in Durban on the 27th-28th August 2016. It will be held at Westville Old Boys Sports Club.

Our approach to what teams will be playing is the following:

  • There is no limit to the number of Women's teams that can be entered.
  • Women's teams from past O&W tournaments have been sent invites.
  • Any team that wishes to enter should send a notice of interest in the form of an email to openwomensn...@gmail.com
  • We want as many women's teams at this nationals as possible.
  • There is an 8 team limit for the number of Open's teams that will be entered.
  • Invitations will be sent out to teams that have played in past O&W Nationals. These teams will have preference for entrance but have until Friday 29th July to declare interest.
  • Those teams that have not been invited are to send a notice of interest in the form of an email to openwomensn...@gmail.com. They will be considered after the deadline of 29th July

Once team entrance into the tournament has been determined a registration form will be sent out. Registration will also be done on Ultimate Central.

Team fee: R 0.00
Player Fee: R 300.00

Deadlines:
Unfortunately due to the severe time constraint we are under the deadlines are quite soon.

Declaration of Interest: 29th July
Registration Completion: 5th August
Payment: 10th August

Yours in Ultimate,

O&W TOC 2016

If you have any queries please send an email to openwomensn...@gmail.com

Thank you

Dale Franklin

Yes!

I would love to see as many women as possible at this awesome tournament next month!

Because the tournament is oh-so soon, I know there might be a fear of not being able to put full teams together in time.  I would hate for a group of women to not be able to attend the tournament because they don't have numbers for a full team.  SO!  I would like to help out!  If you are interested, I'd like to help coordinate to help put women together who need more players.  (I'll also talk to the TOC, maybe they already have a system for this?)

These are the movements that I have heard for women's teams: (Who am I missing?)

Gauteng: definitely one team, hopefully two
(I personally haven't heard anything from the Bloem, Benoni, Polokwane ladies: is anyone here from those regions who can update us?)
PMB
Durban is gathering!
Eastern Cape is working on a team!
Cape Town: what are you up to?  5 teams in league, how many at Nationals expected?
Anyone else???

So, I'll talk to the TOC and see is they have a system in place.  If not, I'll take it on.
In the meantime, please let me know what is going on in your regions!  Could we have EIGHT women's teams at Nationals??

Ultimate love,

Robin

Hi Ladies and our SAFDA chair,

Thanks for the email Robin, that's a great initiative to include female players, you are a star!

I have some teenagers from Pinetown girls who may be looking for a team. Only 1 or 2 of them will be added onto the Durban team as Angelique has enough numbers. I don't want the others girls to lose out if they don't get chosen. Robin...I could send you their contact details if that would help? I am no longer seeing them at school as I have changed jobs.. So them or their parents would have to be messaged.

An issue that they have expressed is that R300 is too much for them to afford for a tournament. These are young people who don't earn money and whose parents can't afford that amount as they are from a middle to low socio-economic area. These girls have played in hat tournaments, and some at the previous women's national in Durban.

Jenny Pitcher has also mentioned that some of our PMB teenagers may also battle to afford that entry fee.

From the SAFDA side is it possible to get a discount for school-goers? Or waive the fee in a situation where teen frisbee players simply cannot afford it?

Please consider this and let me know...

Looking forward to seeing all of you at O&W Nationals 😃

Hey all.

I would be more than happy to sponsor a player fee for somebody since I can't come and I am sure others would as well???

Maybe it could be a combo of reduced fee and us chipping in?

What say you Cape Town ladies? Help share the ultimate love to young up and coming amazing girls???
(Especially those of us who can't make it and won't be spending all that $$$).

Remember your first tournament high!!!!!!

YES ULTIMATE!!!!!
