New GitHub Repository

Google seems to have eaten my last, much-longer post on this subject,
which addressed a lot more of the reasoning and thought process behind
the whole thing--especially the licensing issues. Since I'm not
excited about re-writing the entire message, I'll just point folks to

I've already started making some incremental improvements to the code-
base, and hope others will contribute as well. Please let me know if
