Dear all,

I am pleased to announce a new release of S3QL, version 6.2.0.

From the changelog:

* The Backblaze B2 backend has been rewritten to use Backblaze's S3-compatible
endpoint rather than the native B2 API. The ``b2://`` URL scheme is unchanged;
existing filesystems are fully readable by the new backend. The old native
backend is temporarily available under the ``b2old://`` scheme for users who
encounter regressions. The `b2old` backend will be removed in a future
release if no regressions are reported.

* On backends without a native batch-delete API (Google Cloud Storage, and the new B2 backend),
object deletion during mount/unmount, fsck, and ``s3qladm shrink-db`` is now parallelized across
all available HTTP connections, reducing the time proportionally to the connection pool size.

* ``s3qladm clear`` now uses native batch-delete endpoints on S3 and Swift. On other backends the
parallel fan-out described above applies.

* Upload and eviction of cache entries should be faster for large caches
(performance is no longer linear in cache size).

* S3QL now now uses on `h11 <https://h11.readthedocs.io/>`_ and `httpcore
<https://www.encode.io/httpcore/>`_ instead of S3QL's own HTTP/1.1 implementation.

The following people have contributed code to this release:

(The full list of contributors is available in the AUTHORS file).

The release is available for download from

Please report any bugs on the mailing list (s3...@googlegroups.com) or
the issue tracker (https://github.com/s3ql/s3ql/issues).

Best,
-Nikolaus

Hi all,

I've discovered a systematic problem with the testing of this release. It is likely to contain a number of bugs, and users are advised to not upgrade at this time.

(The automatic testing against production backend servers was accidentally disabled, so tests only ran against mock servers that do not perfectly replicate behaviour).

Best
Nikolaus
