S2PLOT version 2.8 Release Candidate 1 (RC1) is now available from the
S2PLOT web
pages: http://astronomy.swin.edu.au/s2plot/index.php?title=S2PLOT

This is an intermediate release offering a few new features, some bug
fixes, and support for the forthcoming PRC export module. This module
will provide a free and simple Unix-based workflow to embed
interactive, 3-d S2PLOT visualisations in PDF files via LaTeX, and
will be announced to this list soon.

There are approximately 15 new functions, some quite general (e.g.
s2funuva - transparent parametric function with transparency
controlled by user-supplied function) and others are rather
specialised (e.g. ds2protect - prevent erasing of geometry created in
dynamic callback function).

The darwin-gnu-univ architecture has been removed. See the file
CHANGES.TXT in the distribution for a full list of changes.

Please report bugs or problems with the release candidate via the
S2PLOT Google Group.

- David.
