Good morning,
The next Spokane Parent Advocacy Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, from 2:00 to 4:00 pm. Meetings are held in the Community Minded Enterprises large conference room, downtown Spokane at 25 W Main Ave. Anyone interested in helping families involved with child welfare (i.e. Child Protective Services) connect with community, is welcome to attend.
Attached is the flyer for our next Dependency 101 class, Saturday, October 9, from 10:00 to 1:00 pm. The class will be held at the Salvation Army's Fireside room, at 222 E Indiana Ave. This class focuses on helping families newly involved with child welfare and have had children removed from their home. It is taught by birth parents who have been through the system and have successfully resolved their dependency cases. Social workers, attorneys, and GAL/CASA volunteers are encouraged to participate in this class. If you know of a parent who is struggling with CPS, please tell them to attend our class!
Last but, certainly not least, please check out
www.ourchildrenfirstspokane.com. If you haven't heard of Our Children First, then get connected; if you have, then spread the word! This is a City of Spokane initiative that will help raise funds for after school programs, early learning, mentoring and child abuse & neglect prevention. The money will go to Spokane programs and families in need of our assistance. Nonprofits can be involved with and support this campaign because it is a nonpartisan issue.
Thank you,
Jeremiah Donier
