The Spokane Parent Advocacy Committee (PAC) is hosting a Chili Feed, Saturday, October 22 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Family of Faith Church at 708 W Nora Ave in Spokane. We plan to have a chili cooking and cornbread baking contest, as well as door prizes.
This is a fundraising event for programs that assist families involved with child welfare. Ticket prices are $2.00 for children (ages 5 to 13), $4.00 for adults (ages 14 & older), $6.00 for combo (2 adults), and $10.00 for family (2 adults & 2 children). We're looking for parents to join our committee, so eligible parent applicants get a FREE ticket!
If you're interested in volunteering or submitting an entry for the chili or cornbread contest, please contact us via email, Spoka...@gmail.com. If you or your organization would like to donate something to help with this event or support our programs; it would be most welcome and we would be happy to provide you with a tax receipt.
About the PAC
Founded in 2009, the Spokane PAC is affiliated with Catalyst for Kids, a program of the Washington State Children's Home Society. "People change, families reunite," is our motto because as parents who were involved with Child Protective Services, we changed and reunited with our family. We learned to nurture our children and took responsibility for the charges of abuse and neglect. Now we are voluntarily giving back to our community by helping other parents engage with services and resources.
Parents involved with PACs across the state are recognized for their proactive leadership and collaborative work with social workers, legal professionals, and service providers, as well as legislators. Together we are working to improve outcomes for all families involved with child welfare. Essentially we are trying to build strong families by ensuring child safety and guiding parents to healthy community connections.
In Spokane we are trying to raise awareness and funds to provide early intervention parenting classes and peer-to-peer mentoring. As we continue to build a strong support network of families, we anticipate many more great community projects. If you would like to learn more about our efforts, please free to contact us at any time, Spoka...@gmail.com or 509-228-3242.
