Phone Banking: Washington United for Marriage!

Hello Legal Voice supporters!

I wanted to reach out to you really quickly with a fun and exciting opportunity! On Wednesday, August 1st, members of Raise Your Voice will be phone banking on behalf of Legal Voice and Washington United for Marriage. In case you are unfamiliar with WUM, it is an coalition of organizations, congregations, unions, and businesses working to defend civil marriage for same-sex couples. 

We will be phone banking to help sustain the progress made in February in which the Washington Senate and House of Representatives passed a bill to legalize same-sex marriage. Unfortunately, the day before the bill was to go into effect, opponents provided enough signatures to require a state-wide referendum. That is why during this year's election, we are urging the public to vote in favor of Referendum 74 and in favor or marriage equality; otherwise, our progress is in jeopardy. Where: Washington United for Marriage Action Center, 517 E Pike, Capitol Hill (in the newly renovated Gay City offices)

Even better: Food and drinks will be provided during phone banking, and we plan to celebrate our efforts at the Lobby Bar afterwards!
