If thumbnail generation and thumbnail display are both enabled, and File Station still displays generic thumbnails for images or videos, then File Station does not support the file types of those videos or images. See the following links for supported file types in File Station:

So then I saw an toturial on how to set up containers on QNAP by using TVHeadend image. -to-setup-containers-on-qnap/ I have tried going through this excerise to no avail but with SABNZBD container. Despite that there is no similar topic on the internet to assist me. Therefore, I would appreicate any suggestions from QNAP owners so that I can better undertand before wasting my time.

Do not connect your NAS directly to the internet. To enhance the security of your NAS, QNAP recommends users use the myQNAPcloud Link feature provided by QNAP, or enable the VPN service. Or you can use another VPN of your choice.

In "Control Panel", "System", "General Settings", "System Administration", we have to change the "System port" (HTTP) from 80 to another free port number (8000 for example) and, if secure connection is enabled but I'm pretty sure it is, also change the "Port number" (HTTPS) from 443 to another free port number (4430 for example).

When a new "Application" is saved, Container Station creates a new folder inside "/share/Container/container-station-data/application" using the name given in the "Application name" field and stores there the docker-compose.yml file.

See the documentation for the slaxml library. http.host, http.max-body-size, http.max-cache-size, http.max-pipeline, http.pipeline, http.truncated-ok, http.useragent See the documentation for the http library. smbdomain, smbhash, smbnoguest, smbpassword, smbtype, smbusername See the documentation for the smbauth library. With the free community edition, you can use all apps that are published under the GPL or similar public licenses, e.g. the GNU Affero General Public License. These apps you can simply enable and enjoy. In the upper left corner, click on the main menu with the three bars, select Market and install what you like.

Users can also be enabled or disabled via occ commands. For more information on the ownCloud command line interface, see below. This would be particularly useful if the admin user accidentally gets disabled.

If you want to use SSL certificates with MyQnapCloud as a DDNS service, add a reverse proxy setup as described in this article: QNAP: How to use Reverse Proxy to improve secure remote connections?. To do so, add a reverse proxy from your myqnapcloud domain as your source and :4490 as destination. Make sure to change the ownCloud config (custom/user.config.php) to use your myqnapcloud domain with following data:

Note QNAP container station has a gitlab version pre-installed. I did not install because it's an older version (V11 or so) vs. the docker images (V14). The pre-installed version also requires 3 'runners' instead of one.

One has to remind the gitlab runner runs with administrator account. Reason why I provided write permission to the above 3 directories (and excluded from access by all other users). My administrator account is disabled for login. As a result, I have no access to the gitlab directories unless I first re-enable briefly my admin account for login during the time I want access. But it's also safe to prevent accidental data corruption by users since they cannot access the gitlab directories from outside the NAS).

The first time, I was unable to determine the default gitlab root password (remind I have disabled my administrator account as explained in previous step). There's a initial root password file in /etc (but one needs to be NAS administor to access and connect using SSH, as explained in step 2). One may briefly re-enable the QNAP administrator account & use SSH, but my work-around was to force a new gitlab root password:

Container Station has a nice feature to export the image you just downloaded. This may be useful if you want to port the identical gitlab image to another NAS / back it up. Click on the middle of the left hand side "Export". At the top right click on the button "+ Export Image". On the dropdown list, select your image you want to export. Provide a file name and select the location. It makes sense to enable compression (for gitlab the typical compression ration is about 50%, so one saves about 1Gbyte of storage). Taken the images size into account, the export will take some time to complete.

Thank you so much for this step by step instruction. However, I just encountered an
issue when trying to proceed with step 2. When I open container station and go to "images", I entered gitlab/gitlab-ee but it only tells me "No matches found". Same with the ce-version.
Do you have an idea what I might have done wrong? If I go to "Create" and enter "gitlab" it finds the application, however the version is 11.4.0.

I have no exact idea why QNAP container station cannot find gitlab directly anymore (I thought at first it was docker, since one has to log in to the hub to pull but even if I put my credentials in container station gitlab was not found).
So I started some experiments. I found an option to use NAS ssh command line docker pull instead of container station. The only change is how one pulls the gitlab image and is added to the instructable. I use gitlab-ee and pulled this way gitlab-ce (to make sure an additional image became available). Once the command line pull was success, container station allows to manage it, so there is no need to continue using command line at that time.

As QNAP within QTS now supports Docker (with a neat UI), you can simply install Home Assistant using Docker without the need for command-line. For details about the package (including compatibility-information, if your NAS is supported), see _station/en/index.php

hi i installed redmine of container station of qnap.i wont activate the email but :
Delivery via email is not configured , and notifications are disabled .
Configure your SMTP server in config / configuration.yml and restart the application to enable them.

Both the 8-bay TS-831X and 5-bay TS-531X feature a pair of 10GbE SFP+ ports to facilitate bandwidth-demanding tasks. To tackle IOPS-demanding applications, a QM2 M.2 SSD/10GbE PCIe expansion card can be installed in the NAS to add up to two M.2 PCIe/SATA SSDs for increasing read/write performance and to add extra 10GbE connectivity (individual QM2 cards may vary in functionality). Besides SSD caching, QM2 can form a RAID 1 or RAID 0 caching pool or auto-tiering volume, while Qtier auto-tiering technology can be enabled at the same time to ensure 24/7 optimized storage efficiency.
