Gotham Font is a Sans-serif font created by American designer Tobias Frere Jones and Jesse Ragan. It was released in 2000 with a broad design comprising wide x-height and founded by a New York foundry, Hoefler & Co. Since its release, it has been extensively used and is visible in different notable places. Want to make something surprising then combine this typeface with The Tropical Script Font a great script typeface with an amazing ligature.

Since creation, Gotham has been highly visible due to its appearance in many notable places.[7] This has included Barack Obama's 2008 presidential campaign, Michigan State University branding,[8] and the 2016 federal election campaign of the Australian Labor Party.[9] The font has also been used on the cornerstone of the One World Trade Center in New York. It is also the current font used in MPA title cards for film trailers in the U.S.

Developed for professional use, Gotham is an extremely large family, featuring four widths, eight weights, and separate designs for screen display and a rounded version. It is published by Hoefler & Co., the company of Frere-Jones' former business partner Jonathan Hoefler.[10] Companies that notably use the font are Taco Bell, Golf Galaxy, ABS-CBN Corporation (ABS-CBN Entertainment, ABS-CBN News, ABS-CBN Sports, the television network of the same name, and some subsidiaries such as Star Magic), The Cartoon Network, Inc. (Cartoon Network, Cartoon Network Productions, and Cartoon Network Studios), and formerly in the logos for Discovery, Inc. and ViacomCBS, currently Paramount Global.

Frere-Jones' inspiration for the typeface came from time spent walking block-by-block through Manhattan with a camera to find source material,[12] and he based the font on the lettering seen in older buildings, especially the sign on the Eighth Avenue façade of the Port Authority Bus Terminal. "I suppose there's a hidden personal agenda in the design," Frere-Jones said, "to preserve those old pieces of New York that could be wiped out before they're appreciated. Having grown up here, I was always fond of the 'old' New York and its lettering."[12]

Early materials for the 2008 Obama campaign used the serif Perpetua. Later, however, upon hiring John Slabyk and Scott Thomas, the campaign made the change to Gotham, and the font was used on numerous signs and posters for the campaign.[16]

Observers of the primary and general elections compared Obama's design choices favorably to those made by his opponents. In her campaign, Hillary Clinton used New Baskerville, a serif used by book publishers, law firms and universities, while John McCain used Optima, the same font used for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial.[17][20] It also has to be noticed that while the Obama campaign material still used the Perpetua typeface, the short-lived John Edwards campaign was already using Gotham Ultra.[21]

Philippine media conglomerate ABS-CBN Corporation, the television network of the same name, conglomerate's divisions such as ABS-CBN Entertainment, ABS-CBN News, ABS-CBN Sports, and ABS-CBN Foundation use the Gotham typeface since September 9, 2013, with the Rotis typeface continued to be used on the ABS-CBN text as the modified version of the said font. It was first used as the company's secondary typeface when its soon-to-be 2014 logo originally launched as secondary logo as part of 60th anniversary of the namesake television network on the said date of September 2013 and then became the primary typeface when the 2014 ABS-CBN logo now became the primary logo on January 1, 2014.[29][30] It is notably used on logos of Kapamilya Channel (launched on 13 June 2020) and A2Z Channel 11 (launched on 6 October 2020).

Gotham is the official font of New York University,[33] Michigan State University,[34] Rowan University,[35] the Singapore University of Technology and Design,[36] and was the primary brand typeface of the University of Waterloo and remains in use in logos and signage in conjunction with newly introduced brand typefaces.[37]

Once you've completed your purchase. Download the font pack and install. The font should then be available in the drop down list of fonts on your next Acrobat restart. You can refer to this article here for installation: How do you install new fonts to Adobe Acrobat Pro XI?

You might have a Type 1 version of Gotham. Support for Type 1 fonts ended in Photoshop with version 23.0. They will be phased out in all Adobe products January 2023.

Best get OTF versions of your font library before then.

So then I thought, maybe this happens because I didn't converted all the characters while using a font web generator, but then I tried another one and chose to convert all characters and still no luck...

but the Gotham font is only working on my computer in Google Chrome since I have the font installed locally, but when I run a VM that doesn't have the font installed then it will just use Tahoma font instead.

In order for me to further assist you with your concern, could you please provide the following?:
-Copies of Gotham fonts so I can install it on my own system and test it with my Nitro Pro program
-Build of Nitro Pro are you working with. You can find this out by clicking on 'About Nitro Pro' under the Help tab (format is 12.X.X.X, e.g. 12.0.0.112) or you can go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.

The default Gotham font renders really nastily at the default 14pt size in the web client for me. I'm running Windows 10, latest version. Chrome or Firefox browser - same issue. Basically, at 14pt, some details of the font render really chunkily which is really ugly. My screen is a standard DPI screen (not one of those HiDPI / Retina screens). At 18pt, the font looks fine. At 12pt, it's thin and hard to read. Methinks the font is poorly hinted for screen ...

I agree this font is ugly and often erroneous. For example, it shows small 'i' in bold as capital 'I'. Terrible. Evernote team, please do something about. Fonts for iOS/ Mac apps look great - just use them.

I would like a way to change the default font as well.
On Windows I use a monospace font by default.
All monospace benefits are lost when I access it via web, which is much of the time as you do not have an Linux desktop client.

+1. Need to either change your default font to a common web safe font(Arial, Helvetica, Verdana, TNR, comic sans jk), Set different defaults based on device type, let the user set their own default font and size OR

My issue seems to be gone. My default browser font is now called 'default' and gotham is gone from my options, thankfully. 'default' looks just fine. It may be because I changed my default font in the Windows app.

Webfonts can be used on a single domain. Agencies responsible for multiple websites, for example web design agencies or hosting providers, may not share a single webfont license across multiple websites.

Every time the webpage using the webfont kit is loaded (i.e, the webfont kit CSS which holds the @font-face rule is called) the counting system counts a single pageview for each webfont within the webfont kit.

We'll supply a kit containing webfonts that can be used within digital ads, such as banner ads. This kit may be shared with third parties who are working on your behalf to produce the ad creatives, however you are wholly responsible for it.

An Electronic Doc license is based on the number of publications in which the font is used. Each issue counts as a separate publication. Regional or format variations don't count as separate publications.

Designers asked if Gotham could take on new typographic roles, and we listened. Gotham Narrow reimagines Gotham as a space-efficient text face, handily succeeding in the confines of the narrow text column without looking squeezed. With the silhouette of a classic headline series, Gotham Extra Narrow is a practical choice for sizes both large and small, with an ample character set that recommends it to information-dense environments. Gotham Condensed features nine weights from Thin to Ultra, including a number of features unusual in condensed fonts, starting with matching italics in every weight.

hi @Zeeshan_Mehboob and welcome to WF Forum. From what I see there is problem with your Gotham font family.
Here is video with some recommendation you can check to make it work. It is definitely not macOS or iOS issue.

A serif typeface may be more appropriate in limited contexts that call for more traditional or formal design. The primary sans serif font family for MSU is Garamond. When Garamond is unavailable, Times New Roman is the next most appropriate option.

These typefaces may be used as substitutes for the primary brand typefaces. Because Gotham and Liberator are not standard fonts on most computers, the typeface substitutions identified below should be used when creating documents or presentations intended to be shared in their native file formats (i.e., not designed and saved as PDF documents).

How can I get the Font Style list in 'Text Style' dialogue window to show all styles available as shown in the C:\windows\Fonts folder. Currently only Gotham Bold, Bold Italic, Light Italic & Book Italic are available in AutoCAD. There are seven styles showing in Windows\fonts. I have added the Windows fonts to the support file path and restarted AutoCAD all to no avail.

@vlsheehan - I have not copied any files or installed them. I assume as the Gotham font was already there then all the styles shown in window\fonts would be available. What is there is all that came when AutoCAD was installed on my laptop. All I have done is to add the Windows\Fonts file to the support path (hoping that would help) as the required font styles are in this folder under Gotham/Gotham Light etc.

If it would be useful, I have attached to this message two BMPR project files. One has the project font set to Gotham Light. The other Gotham Medium. You could use these as a template project - just copy the file, rename it, upload it to Cloud and start wireframing!
