In March 2012, Thorpe Park announced they contacted You Me at Six to create the world's first roller coaster single for the launch of The Swarm. The song was released to iTunes on 18 March 2012, a few days after the opening of the coaster.[2]
Kirby: They didn't feed me too much information and because of that, I didn't overthink it. I kept asking Fam, "Wait, so I can just do this? Are you sure?" I kept trying to make sure there wasn't somebody else that was gonna come in and hand me a brief and say, "We need a song that sounds like it would've been on LEMONADE." That shoe never dropped. They really allowed me to just be creative and sing. There were no boundaries.
The EP features six Ni'Jah songs including a collaboration with Glover, credited to his Childish Gambino moniker. Ni'Jah's vocals come courtesy of Kirby, the Roc Nation-signed artist who released her debut album Sis in 2020. Glover executive produced the tracks with regular collaborator Michael Uzowuru. We have neither the budget nor the imagination of BBC Radio, so we've borrowed from their Desert Island Discs program to bring you our own scaled-down version, dubbed Six Songs To Die With. We ask a noteworthy musical guest to select the six songs they'd be stranded with on an obligatory desert island. Hypothetically, said guest will be dying on this island, so they've been advised to choose wisely. Selections appear in no particular order.
"Swarm", a brand new song from OCTOBER TIDE, the long-running Swedish doom five-piece featuring former KATATONIA members Fredrik and Mattias Norrman and current AMON AMARTH touring drummer Jocke Wallgren, can be streamed below. The track is taken from OCTOBER TIDE's new album, "Winged Waltz", which will be released on April 22 via Agonia Records. The follow-up to 2013's "Tunnel Of No Light" was recorded, mixed and mastered at Wing Studios (DEMONICAL, CENTINEX, DIABOLICAL) in Sweden with producer Sverker Widgren.
