Hamilton International Airport is an international airport in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and is the hub airport for Swoop. The airport has a single terminal with 2 runways and facilitates flights from airlines travelling around Canada, the US, Mexico and Central America.
By 2019 it had moved into the burgeoning metropolises of Kelowna and London (Ontario). At the end of that year, it expanded beyond the US and Canada into México and Jamaica, looking like so many other airlines that have tried to make a living on those sun routes over the years.
Yes, there are food and beverage options on board but it will cost you! There are no free drink options like coffee, tea, water etc. so plan accordingly. I personally hate airline coffee so never take up this free option that is available on some other airlines.
When I returned to Canada I looked up the app and found there were at least 90 seats available on Monday afternoon flight. When I contacted Swoop, they told me those must have become available when folks that were rescheduled took other flights airlines. So over 90 people decided to buy tickets with another airline. They were very sharp and said I should have called their customer service, but when I tried it was closed for the night. Really bad customer service, you really are taking a chance. Will be filing complaint with Transport Canada and FAA (as they fly out of US). Never Never Again
it seems before I take a trip with swoop they you need to clean up your act.
Superwoman , Swoop need to either refund people their air fair or get them on another flight.
Still not sure if I want to try Swoop or not
Ive flown with Swoop london to Las Vegas and edmoton return and once hamilton to winnapeg. Heading to Abbotsford Jan 22 2020. All 3 experiences were good. The flights mostly on time and curtious support staff. The seats are a little uncomfortable and extra baggage if needed can get pricy but still far cheaper than other airlines. I recomend using Swoop but be warned you may just get what you paid for!
For the actual process of check-in and check-out, both ways the staff at the gate was really sweet and helpful. The airplane also took off on time both ways, and on the way back it actually left EXACTLY to the second it was supposed to. I loveeee timely airlines.
If you are flying with a child like we were, you are probably wondering what baby equipment Swoop allows you to bring. Well, Swoop allows you to bring some items for free, but charges for other baby equipment that other airlines do not.
Swoop is an airline I would not use. Flew them once but never again. I arrived at Pearson and could not customer desk find to pick up a boarding pass. There was no signs placed to let me know this was swoop and the personnel were very unprofessional. .This Airline is a complete failure and . I would make a complaint but as usual no one answer the phone. On a scale 1 to 10 i rate this airline 1 as poor
In a move mimicking many major airlines across the world, Canadian low-cost carrier WestJet announced in 2017 that it would launch a spinoff lower-cost airline. The ultra low-cost carrier, Swoop, first took to the skies in June 2018 with Boeing 737-800 aircraft transferred from WestJet.
We're always on the lookout for Patagonia enthusiasts to join our team, so if we don't have any vacancies please do get in touch by emailing adv...@swooptravel.co.uk. We look forward to hearing about you and why you love Patagonia.
Having only been in the industry since 2018, Swoop needed to make a name for itself against the bigger airlines, especially since Mexico is a destination headliner. It decided to combine online with offline content and create a video that would get its point across in an impactful way. The strategy was to use social and display ads to drive people to the video and take advantage of the offer.
Swoop decided to push normal advertising boundaries and take a chance on a big idea. The concept was to create a large flight coupon, etched into the sand on one of the very beaches they were promoting. The giant coupon was live-streamed on Facebook, inviting people to utilize the coupon and book a flight before the coupon was washed away by the tide. During the three-hour steam, viewers were not only able to see the beauty of the destination but also witness the ocean wash away the coupon and end the sale in real-time. Set with crashing ocean waves on a beautiful Mazatlán beach, the live stream demonstrated that Swoop was indeed different than traditional airlines.
Compared to airlines such as Air Canada and Westjet, a flight on Swoop Air will cost less the vast majority of the time. While saving money is obviously a good thing, there are some disadvantages to flying on a discount airline such as Swoop Air. The goal of this article is neither to discourage people from flying with discount airlines, nor discount the economic realities of running a discount airline, but rather it is to highlight my experiences when flying with Swoop Air.
The single-handed worst part of flying with Swoop Air has to be the seats. I understand that airlines are companies that need to make a profit to survive and thus have an incentive to book as many people as they can on an airplane. For those who have never flown with Swoop Air, the seats lack the ability to recline and they are also quite upright so as to fit more passengers on the plane. I felt as if the seat was pressing my back forward.
While I will continue to fly discount airlines to save money, I can assure you that the moment I get a real job is the day I will finally be able to afford flying on an airline that offers a better flying experience.
Air passenger protection legislation, passed in 2019, states airlines must provide compensation for flight cancellations and flight delays of three hours or more, if the disruption is within their control and not safety related.

Over the summer, WestJet was negotiating a new contract with pilots (as so many airlines have), which nearly caused a strike. As part of the negotiations, management and the union agreed that they would shut down Swoop. This brings Swoop pilots onto a higher pay scale with WestJet, and it seemed like the most economical option for getting a new contract ratified.
I wish Swoop merged with Sunwing instead to make an airline called Swing that has a pink and orange livery and then have that be WestJet's new low-cost carrier subsidiary. On a more serious note, I wonder why LCC subsidiaries of full-service airlines that have lower labor costs don't do well in North America yet you find them all over Europe and Asia. Air Canada Rouge is the only one left in North America that I can think of.
