Imaging Systems (MIS) at Philips Research in Aachen deals with
innovative technologies for medical imaging, data analysis and their
utilization in clinical applications. The working atmosphere is

will participate in the forefront of research utilizing latest medical
imaging technology, in particular Magnetic Resonance Imaging. We aim
at understanding and characterizing disease processes to improve
diagnosis thus helping therapeutic decisions. To this end, you will
contribute to novel approaches of medical data analysis, which have
the potential to change patient management in most relevant disease
areas.
Your Responsibilities
Our aim is to identify features derived from images, which correlate
with disease states of oncologic patients or stage of chronic
diseases. To this end, you will assess the state-of-the-art in
literature, participate in the data acquisition, develop and implement
feature extraction methods and Support Vector Machines (SVM), and
analyze the acquired data with regard to correlations in multivariate
analyses. You will report in detail on your scientific and algorithmic
work.
Your Profile
You are currently studying towards your University Master with one or
more qualifications:
�Biomedical Engineering
�Electrical Engineering
�Computer Sciences
�Physics
�Mathematics or comparable
To be successful in your internship, you
�have a solid signal processing background; preferably you have
developed skills in statistical data analysis
�take responsibilities and act on these
�have a systematic and thorough way of working and documenting
�have a solid and proven background in programming (Matlab, C++, C#)
�are enthusiastic, focused and have a result-driven mindset
�possess good communication skills and strong research skills
�have excellent English language skills It is advantageous if you
additionally
�have a certain level of experience working in a clinical environment
�are familiar with Magnetic Resonance Imaging
�have German language skills Duration: The anticipated duration of
your internship is at least four months, student workers are always
welcome. In case you are interested in a master thesis afterwards, two
months of internship for training purpose is acceptable.
