Dear All,

An editorial assistant is asking a question regarding a figure which used world map from rworldmap: 'you will need to confirm that the third parties that produced the map is happy for the image to be used in the article'. I'm not sure what to reply. Could you help me about that (I see nothing about that in the refs on the package)? Thank you.

Concerning the citation of the package. Is this ref still the most update?

  @Article{,
    author = {Andy South},
    title = {rworldmap: A New R package for Mapping Global Data},
    journal = {The R Journal},
    year = {2011},
    volume = {3},
    number = {1},
    pages = {35-43},
    month = {June},
    issn = {2073-4859},
    url =
      {http://journal.r-project.org/archive/2011-1/RJournal_2011-1_South.pdf},
  }

Thank you for your help,

Georges

Dear Georges,

The citation is still good.

Re the editorial question you can reply that  rworldmap uses Natural Earth data which is public (http://www.naturalearthdata.com/).

From their web page :
Natural Earth was built through a collaboration of many volunteers and is supported by NACIS(North American Cartographic Information Society), and is free for use in any type of project (see our Terms of Use page for more information).

Could you send me a copy of the paper when it is out ?

Thanks,
Andy
