Hi guys,
A coworker’s friend’s sister is suffering from Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and he passed this along, which I want to pass to you guys as well. I just want to encourage everyone help out in two ways:
1) Sign the back of your driver’s license to automatically donate organs when you die (though your family will probably still be asked to sign a consent form in order for your donation to occur) (Link for more info)
2) Register to become a potential bone marrow donor (Link)
a. The chances are low that you’d ever get matched, but if you do, you’d increase someone’s chances of living from 0% to ~50%.
b. From what I’ve researched, the process is somewhat painful and you’ll probably have to take work off for a week, but it’s probably nothing compared to what the other person’s going through…
c. Links to other people’s experiences as being a donor:
i. http://www.fastbobs.com/bob/donor.html (some reason I think this guy’s writing style is funny)
ii. http://www.cnn.com/2009/HEALTH/01/12/hm.bone.marrow/index.html

It doesn’t require much at all of us, and it could do so much possible good…
Best,
Michael Suh
