Hi Greg,

Just trying to get familiar with project info on wiki and have forked
the project. Have you standardized on a Ruby version and patch
number?

Also curious if you've decided on a Javascript framework? Or plan to
stick with Prototype. JQuery is my favorite alternative, but I don't
want to rock the boat as I'm not sure how much I'll be able to
contribute yet.

You're doing good things.

Best Regards,

-Michael

My understanding is that the app will be deployed on Heroku. They appear to be running REE 1.8.7-p253 currently. Here is the full version info:

ruby 1.8.7 (2010-04-19 patchlevel 253) [x86_64-linux], MBARI 0x6770, Ruby Enterprise Edition 2010.02

I would strongly recommend using jQuery as opposed to Prototype. It is much more widely used these days and has a huge library of plugins available.

Sorry to not get back to you earlier, internet here is up / down.

Def agree with Paul + Michael on JQuery.

I've been developing a UI with active scaffold in a separate branch, until we have better alternatives. I'm of the "use it until it will become cumbersome for some feature" approach. We'd need to do http://wiki.activescaffold.com/wiki/published/ActiveScaffold+and+JRails%2FjQuery to get AS to work with jQuery.

Thanks,
Gregory Nelson
