Sadly June Byrne passed on Dec 10.  She was a dedicated genealogist.  Many of you knew her from her posts here.

Knowing that her time was short, June wanted another individual and me to update her websites with our contact information and make a few changes.  We have tried to update the Cullember site using an FTP,/FileZilla, but the revision has been sitting in the cache since Friday and not updating on the website.  I saw what Barry posted about using a VPN.  Is this the issue or has Ancestry stopped permitting edits and or revisions.

The second question relates to getting a new password for the Clover site.  The password that June gave us is not working or perhaps again it is the way that we are trying to access the website.  How does one go about getting a new password?

Third, if we can still do updates to websites has anyone heard anything about when Ancestry will freeze things?  We thought perhaps they had already done it since our revision was sitting in the cache.

Cathy,

I have just accessed my own site, and for the first time in a long time without using a VPN. Yes, I remember June posting to the Freepages Help.

I suspect that whoever is managing the RW server has got the message regarding the fragmented access that has been available.

If you are unable to access the Cullember site, it may be a PW problem. I'd need to see the server response to determine exactly.

With regard to the Clover site; the password will need to be entered as per the original upper/lower case for each alpha character.

You'll need to check back through some of the more recent messages posted to RW-Website-Help to find info on changing a PW. Currently the only known date for Ancestry to make the RW sites 'static' is early in 2024.

Yes.  I transferred a file to the server, then deleted it.

Barry
I am working with my son-in-law who has much more experience with websites than I.  He discovered tonight that there were multiple files with the same name.  The update went through fine.  Thank you so much for testing this for us.  I will be checking on how to get a new password for the clover site.  Many thanks again. Cathy
