Hello all.
The latest disaster in the API feed tripped my parser up.
According to http://reliefweb.int/book/taxonomy-descriptions#disastertype , the type should be named "Technological Disaster", yet it was abbreviated to "Tech. Disaster".
I fixed my parser and I agree that it shouldn't have happened and be more fault tolerant.

It's still not good practice to use type names in such a free form fashion IMHO. Computers aren't that smart or flexible. So a good parser should just ignore that event.
But I guess you don't put disasters in your feed just so they can be ignored. So please either stick to your own taxonomy documentation, or extend the documentation to contain
other type names you use.

Regards,
Benjamin

Hi Ben, thank you for catching this. The correct form is "Technological Disaster", and we will roll out a fix to address this. We'll also take the opportunity to review all other terms.

ReliefWeb uses GLIDE to identify disasters, and in the next update we'll be adding support for GLIDE hazard codes, like AC for technological disasters.

Thanks again for catching this, and taking the time to let us know. Please look forward to the next update.

Best regards,

Shuichi
