Hi,

I discovered that I am part of this group and hence am taking advantage of this to post a very important message. I apologize to teachers if I seem to be barging in with my thesis bandwagon. But I must get this out of my system!

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear all,

It was decided between teachers who are interested to come for the forthcoming thesis semester, that submission of thesis synopses, at this stage, is crucial for any sort of meaningful thesis project. Considering the fact that we have had the benefit of Dr Ananthakrishna's lecture before the break, we have decided that you should all submit your synopses by the 21st of this month (November). The synopses will be reviewed and assessed by all the involved teachers and we have decided to take it as the first submission towards the thesis project. The synopsis carries 50 marks.

If you fail to submit the synopsis by the proposed date, it will be understood that you are not willing to take up a thesis project this coming semester.

Apart from the guidelines given by Dr Ananthakrishna, I am putting forward a few more points that might help you to write the proposal or synopsis. Please find a word document attached for this purpose. The 5 points mentioned in the text are crucial for you to write the synopsis. You need not stick to the 5-point format, however, these points should be incorporated or thought of before you write your text. Of the 5 points, points 2 and 5 are the most important, in my view, since it makes your life a lot more easier if you have some structured approach right at the beginning of this important phase.

Directions for submission of the synopses:

Each student will name the synopsis file (only pdf format) in the following way:

10th sem students, A section: 2013_10A_Student Name_Thesis Title
10th sem students, B section: 2013_10B_Student Name_Thesis Title

8th sem students, A section: 2013_8A_Student Name_Thesis Title
8th sem students, B section: 2013_8B_Student Name_Thesis Title

These will be then collected by the Class Representatives of the respective studios and put in a single Folder titled: 10A_Thesis Synopses; 10B_Thesis Synopses; 8A_Thesis Synopses and 8B_Thesis Synopses. So in the end, there will be 4 folders with thesis synopses. It will be easier for the faculty to review them if this system is followed.

I hope it is clear. If there is any confusion, please feel free to email and sort it out before its too late.

Thanks, and all the very best.

Shaji.

PS: It would be helpful if you could spread this to both the current 7th semester sections and the other 9th semester section ASAP. Thanks.

PPS: Interested teachers may add on their points to this email or give further directions. Thanks.
