Subject: [rva-gtug] Oct. 2011 RVA GTUG Meeting and Other Upcoming Events
Here are a few events I'm looking forward to in the next month or so:
9/21 Concurrency Without Pain in Pure Java - Richmond Java User Group<http://richmondjug.com>
9/23-24 Virginia Get Your Business Online<http://www.virginiagetonline.com/>
10/06 Building Optimized Rich Web Applications with Java - RVA GTUG<http://www.gtugs.org/chapter.jsp?id=63001>
10/22 Richmond Code Camp - J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, Parham Road Campus<http://richmondcodecamp.org>
Note that third one - that's us! The second meeting of the Richmond, VA Google Technology User Group has been scheduled for Thursday, October 6th. I will be sharing my presentation on Google Web Toolkit.
A big thank you to our hosts, Genworth Financial, for providing meeting space again! If you or your organization would like to sponsor this, or any future RVA GTUG event, by providing food for attendees, please contact me: is...@gtugs.org<mailto:is...@gtugs.org>. This is a great opportunity to show your support for local developers interested in Google technology, and it can cost as little as a stack of pizzas!
This Wednesday, Sept. 21st, Dr. Venkat Subramaniam will be presenting at the Richmond Java User Group. RJUG has been a strong supporter of RVA GTUG for longer than RVA GTUG has existed and I try to make it to as many of their meetings as I can. Go to richmondjug.com<http://richmondjug.com> to sign up. Like us, RJUG events are free to attend.
I only just found out about the Virginia Get Your Business Online event for small business owners. I think we all have fairly sophisticated web presences ourselves but this seems like a good networking event, especially for start-up tech companies looking for small business clients. It may be too late to get in on this as a supporter/partner. If you have any connection with the organizers of this event, please let them know that I would be happy to work with them in the future to connect small business owners to the local Google technology developer community. virginiagetonline.com<http://virginiagetonline.com> for details.
Another free event on the horizon is Richmond Code Camp at JSRCC's Parham Road campus on Oct. 22nd. They don't have a session schedule out yet, I think this event has potential.
Hope to see you all on the 6th.
- Isaac
