Hello, group.
First, I realize I let this group slip away last year. I apologize. I've had a lot going on demanding my time and although this group is important to me, other things took priority. I hope to restore us to activity. To that end, I am organizing an
I/O Extended event June 27th - 29th. I/O Extended is an opportunity for GTUGs to participate in the annual Google I/O conference in San Francisco. In the past, this has included live streaming of keynote speeches and selected technical sessions. There are not a lot of details available yet about the I/O agenda this year, but
reviewing past events can give you an idea of what to expect.
What: Google I/O sessions streamed live, networking with local developers
Where: Genworth Financial's Richmond HQ on Broad street
When: June 27th to 29th
In past years, the I/O keynotes started at 9:00 AM Pacific and sessions ran until 5:00 PM. If I'm doing the math right, that's 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM over here. When the session schedules are released, I will have a better idea of times, but for now I plan on running our event from noon to 5:00, at least.
We may also have an opportunity to G+ Hangout with a Googler during the event - I will be working with Google's GTUG coordinator on this and other details.
What I need from the group is an initial expression of interest. Would you want to attend one day, two days, or all three? Just for the keynote, or all afternoon? Would you want to stay past 5:00 PM for more streamed sessions or for discussion? Obviously your answers may change as we find out more about the I/O event schedule, and no one is obligating themselves to anything.
