Carl please add the following to the VISTA.

thanks,

Rob

All,

As part of the preparation of sending crews to Philmont each summer, Patriots' Path Council now has a program where we provide mandatory Wilderness First Aid training to our crew members. While we have a core group of great instructors, we need to expand from the few people available so that we can continue to meet the needs of our future crews.

With the help of grant money recently received, we are in a position to fund the training needed to qualify interested persons to become American Red Cross instructors. In addition to being able to teach Wilderness First Aid, they will be qualified to teach and issue certifications on standard First Aid, CPR and AED to name a few.

I'm looking for a group of volunteers who are willing to be come part of this fantastic program. In return for providing you the training, all we ask is that you support our program by helping deliver WFA training a couple of times a year. Other training activities you might perform would be up to you.

The current plan, in partnership with the American Red Cross, is to begin training the volunteers sometime late this summer or early fall. We need to have everyone trained before September or October. The training obligation involves a 4 hour program that can be formal or self study and then a full weekend (Fri evening until Sunday afternoon) of formal training with an ARC instructor. You must CPR and standard First Aid certified or willing to get certified at your own expense to participate.

I also have an immediate opening for a fully funded training position beginning March 23 over 5 evenings until April 13 for one person. I would love to fill this position because it is a unique opportunity and we will lose it if not used. This was just made available to us and I apologize for the short notice. Please contact me for specific details.

If you think you are interested, please drop me a note at twi...@comcast.net. Even if you are not interested, will you please circulate this note throughout your local troop's adult leadership or other groups to help me get the word out.

Thank you for your time.

YIS,

Tom Wills
