Greensprings Goshawk

I had a wildflower beautiful hike on the Greensprings Loop Trail this afternoon, and as I sat enjoying the view on one of the open west-facing slopes, an adult Northern Goshawk flew over and pitched into the tall conifer forest behind me.  Came in across the open sky, well above the trees, so possibly still a migrating bird, though it seems to be getting late for that.

Then, about 15 minutes later, two Golden Eagles flew over.  Not soaring, but flying side by side, headed north.

So, I guess the lesson is - if you want great looks at raptors, go on a wildflower hike!
