Northern Parula (Setophaga americana) (1) CONFIRMED

- Comments: "Found while walking our dog. Male singing at (42.2066802, -122.7061151). We first heard the bird giving its distinctive song: a rising, buzzy trilled: “zzzzzzzzzz-ZIP!”. We found the bird and were able to get looks as it sang in a Black Oak. I ran home to grav my camera and came back. It took me a while to refind the bird, but once I refound it it was very cooperative, and I was able to get the attached photos and videos."

We found the bird and were able to get looks as it sang in a Black Oak. I didn't have my camera with me, so I ran home to grab my camera and came back a few minutes later. It took me a while to refind the bird, but once I refound it with a small flock of Bushtits it it was very cooperative, and I was able to get the attached photos and videos. It's a male, by the dark blue on breastband and small, discrete eye-arcs; and appears to maybe be an definitive alternate (after second year), since it seems to lack any sort of smudgy pale supercilium, the rectices look. broad and tapered, and there appear to be blue edges to the primary coverts. Unfortunately, the wing coverts are not shown well in any of my photos,  so it's tough to assess whether or not there are any molt limits."
