Anna's Hummingbird insect gleaning

I still have two Anna's Hummingbirds (1 male, 1 female) in my garden. I do NOT put feeders out, and the birds have been dining on "Hot Lips"sage, Salvia microphylla, throughout the spring, summer and fall. Today, I observed the female hover-gleaning for insects in our Douglas Fir. She did this for several minutes, concentrating on the outer branches of the tree at various heights.
