I add my condolences to Norm's family, and my appreciation for his life. As a member of the Falcons Birdathon team, I always looked forward to competing (and trash-talking) with the Binosaurs -- though as a gentleman, Norm was more given to self-deprecation than to trash-talk. One of my favorite memories of Norm is hawk-watching at Modoc Point, where he always brought his "marmot" - a toy stuffed mammal of indeterminate species raised on a pole to attract strafing runs by migrating hawks. Like the "marmot," Norm was well-padded, tolerant, good-natured, and always welcome wherever he went. He was a great member of our birding community, and will be sadly missed.
