Brewer's Sparrow (Spizella breweri) (2)
- Reported Jun 10, 2024 15:41 by Steve Kaiserman
- Keno Access Rd., Jackson, Oregon
- Map: http://maps.google.com/?ie=UTF8&t=p&z=13&q=42.2537679,-122.3986504&ll=42.2537679,-122.3986504
- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S181690154
- Comments: "2 flew by, 1 stopped and perched on a branch a few yards away from me. Initially I thought they were chipping sparrows, but looking at it through binos, no rufous cap. I thought maybe it was the angle or lighting that was keeping me  from seeing the cap. Glanced down at Merlin to see if it picked it up, it did, but it picked up Brewers. I looked at the bird again and realized, yep, that's what it was, but it took off before I could get a photo. Was going to chalk it up as another rarity that got away. I don't usually bother posting rarities without photos, but when I saw this was rare but occasionally I figured I'd list it. Exact location of sighting was on the Forest road 48 4E 19, which is just a bit south of ebird pin, about the middle of the loop, just a few yards south of the large camping area with the marsh behind it"
