I think it's about time that we got together, don't you? I'm thinking
that our first event of the summer should be something simple, cheap
and easy, so here's my suggestion:

The Art Institute of Chicago is free on Thursdays and Fridays; pretty
much a perfect opportunity to take in a few cross-media art lessons,
do some visual art response writing and discuss art in general and how
the craft of writing and that of painting utilize artistic elements.
Also, we can go out to lunch somewhere and discuss what everyone's
been working on.

How's that sound? Let me know if y'all have any suggestions and when
you are free on Thursday/Friday of this and next week. Hopefully we
can get everyone to come!

Regards,

Mike J

Hi all,

That sounds great Mike. Next week would be better for me as I already have some things ironed out for this week. What says the rest of the group?

Best regards,

Hey! Sounds like a good plan... but my Thursdays and Fridays are booked for the next two weeks. If you kids want to wait that long to get together... but if not, that's cool. I can gather at the next event! I'm in summer school, which is totally cramping my creative sensibilities... but that'll be over soon.

See you later,
Kim

I work from 10:30 to 5 on those days.  Next week I also have rehearsal in Rogers Park from 7 to 10, so I'm probably out.   Thanks for letting me know though.  Maybe I'll be able to go to something else some other time.

I'd be down for meeting thurs or fri of next week, I think the Art
Institute is a great idea. How about early evening as it sounds like
that may give one or two the opportunity to make it out.

For the sake of throwing out a time that gather the yay's & nay's, how
about Thurs, July 2nd at 6.00pm at the Art Institute?

My schedule is really flexible so please let me know if ya'll would
prefer another time / venue. There's always Starcrookz...uh,
Starbucks, I mean.

Yeah, I'm in summer school right now as well, which is pretty much the
only reason I can't make it on Thursday (I have lab from 4:00-7:20).
How about Friday between 5 and 6? We could always just wait another
week for Kim...but we could just do something else that week. If y'all
can make it out Friday, let me know when. The museum is free from 5-9.
I'll see if everyone else who either isn't in the google group or
doesn't check it can come Friday and post more on this when I find
things out.

Friday at 5pm on Thurs works on my side, the Art Institute, right?

Heads up to all on this event happening tomorrow.... I just moved to
Chicago so still getting a feel for the various communities /
organizations but Incubate is a pretty cool concept that brings
together local / underground / amateur film makers, writers, artists,
non profits and the like.

I've copy /pasted the email below...
