As a part of achieving targeted reforms under JnNURM as per the timeline, necessary revisions have been proposed in the existing user charges (including water & sewerage charge) for budget year 2011-12. Annual Water & Sewerage Charge per family - For all 15mm (1/2 ") dia. water connections. Carpet Area (in sq. meters) Annual Water & Sewerage charges  in Rs. Residential Non-residential 0-15 210 300 16-25 360 540 26-50 480 720 51-100 720 1200 101-200 1050 1800 201 -500 1500 2400 501 & above 3000 4500 In the area of city which has been declared as "water zone", where SMC provides water by stand-posts or tanker and where GWSSB or erstwhile Gram Panchayat or Nagarpalika provides water supply, all the residential as well as non-residential properties will be charged 50% water & sewerage charges as mentioned above. In the area of SMC, which has neither been declared as "water zone" nor been provided with water supply by SMC/GWSSB/ Gram panchayat/ Nagarpalika, no water & sewerage charges will be levied. Water & Sewerage charges will not be applicable for agricultural plot in the above mentioned area. Water Supply Scheme for new north zone area of SMC - like Mota Varachha, Utran, Amroli, Chhaprabhatha, Kosad & Variav is being implemented at present under JnNURM. This scheme is designed for 24 x 7 water supply. Hence, as a part of reform process to recover full O&M expenses to be incurred in this water supply scheme, it is decided to install meters on all the water connections including 0.5" size for all types of usage of water. Water meters will be installed on all consumer connections by SMC but the expenses to purchase & maintain this meter will be levied from the consumers. Top Above 15mm (1/2 ") dia – VOLUMETRIC BASIS: (for residential & religious purpose) All new residential & religious purpose water connections above 15mm (1/2 ") dia size shall compulsorily be metered with effect from Dt.01/04/08. All existing water connections above 15mm (1/2 ") dia size for residential & religious purpose will be shifted to metered connections from 1/04/08. All non-residential, commercial & industrial connections above 1/2" size shall be metered as per current water meter policy. User charges (Water & Sewerage) per 1000 liters per family (in Rs.)
