Sunday calls for Snow!

As there are calls for heavy snowfall this weekend, we want to share some regular reminders:

  • Please remember to shovel your sidewalks within 24 hours of last snowfall

  • Please avoid parking in the street, if possible, to increase snow plow and salt efficiency.

  • If you have curb ramps, please also shovel these.

Rutledge Girls Club - Wolf Pack!

They are still looking for players for their Kindergarten or second grade as well as the fifth through seventh graders (U12 team). Enroll here:  https://www.rutledgewolfpack.org/

Sanitation Committee

Next Yard Waste is Monday February 2nd.

Yard Waste will be every first Monday in 2026:

  • Yard Waste will continue as a single monthly collection until the spring.

  • There are 6 additional collections in the months of:

    • Spring Clean: April-May-June

    • Fall Haul: September-October-November.

    • These additional collections will be on the 3rd Monday of those months.

Christmas trees are easily recycled into mulch. Keeping trees out of our trash stream allows for the most environmentally appropriate disposal and also saves on tipping fees. Thus, instead of paying more to dispose of them through the trash, it costs less to recycle them on yard waste days. We appreciate your patience and understanding in holding onto trees until 2/2.

Please ensure no wires, tinsel, or ornaments remain on the trees.

Rutledge Volunteering Opportunities:

  • Ad Hoc Historic Committee: The Ad Hoc Rutledge Historical Committee invites residents to share their Rutledge History. All residents are welcome to attend. If you would like to join as an official committee member, you may submit your letter of interest rutledg...@gmail.com.

  • Rutledge Shade Tree Commission:  Shade Tree Commission is always accepting volunteers to support throughout the year. Thank you to everyone who joined for the Nov 15th planting–the show of support was incredible!

  • Planning Commission – Three Open Seats There are three open seats for the Rutledge Borough Planning Commission! Want to volunteer with the community, learn more about new initiatives, how decisions and recommendations are made within Rutledge, and give back? To be eligible, you must be a resident for 12 months minimum. Please send letters of interest to the rutledg...@gmail.com

  • Interested in climate change? Let us know!

Borough Council recently adopted a Local Climate Action Policy, which provides an opportunity to establish a volunteer group that may eventually grow into an Environmental Advisory Council (EAC). WeConservePA provides many helpful resources about EACs on their website, https://weconservepa.org/ Interested in learning more? Please reply to rutledgecom...@gmail.com with your interest!

Thank you,

Rutledge Communications
