The 30th Annual Tree Lighting is 12/1 at 7PM.

Please come out to our annual tree lighting on Monday, 12/1 at 7pm! We will gather around, light the tree, listen to some carols and enjoy some hot chocolate and treats.  We are inviting all kids to feel free to make a homemade decoration to place on the tree.  We also will be taking a moment to recognize the 30th Anniversary of our Christmas Eve luminary event!

Luminaries are Christmas Eve–  Luminary kits will be making their way to your door sometime in mid-December. Kits include candles, bags, and sand. Residents place the bags evenly at the curb on Christmas Eve and light the candles to guide Santa to Rutledge! More details to follow.

As always, we are working on dates for fun events in 2026.  Stay tuned as we plan these events! Do you want to plan, participate, or host an event? Reach out to suehun...@gmail.com

Lastly, in addition to volunteers, in order to put on these events, we depend on donations to the Rutledge Activities Committee.  So, if you have not made a donation, please consider donating by cash or check before the year runs out. Your donation is also tax-deductible.

Any questions can be directed to Sue Hunt at suehun...@gmail.com .

Ad Hoc Historic Commission

The Ad Hoc Rutledge Historical Committee invites residents to share their Rutledge History. Do you have an interesting story about your house? About your family in Rutledge? Do you know some Rutledge lore?

Reach out to HistoricR...@gmail.com with a brief overview of the topic(s) you'd like to share!

Interested in climate change? Let us know!

Borough Council recently adopted a Local Climate Action Policy, which provides an opportunity to establish a volunteer group that may eventually grow into an Environmental Advisory Council (EAC). WeConservePA provides many helpful resources about EACs on their website, https://weconservepa.org/, such as the following summary of an EAC:

Any municipality in Pennsylvania may establish an Environmental Advisory Council to tap the skills and volunteer energy of its citizens. Consisting of three to seven members appointed by the local government, an EAC can undertake a variety of conservation projects. It can also research issues and advise local government officials to help inform decision-making regarding the environment.

Interested in learning more? Please reply to rutledgecom...@gmail.com with your interest, and feel free to browse the WeConservePA website for more info about this new opportunity.

Sanitation Committee

Next Yard Waste is Friday December 5th

Yard Waste will continue as a single monthly collection until the spring.

Please continue to use the textile bin in the driveway of the borough hall as we are hoping to continue this partnership into 2026.

The glass bin is located at the Swarthmore Public Works area as we continue this partnership with Swarthmore.  If you are wondering why we are encouraging the glass bin: 100% of glass collected is 100% recycled within 30 days & it is done locally in the state of PA.  Creating not only jobs, but keeping glass out of our landfills!
