Urgent Support Needed - November 15th Rutledge Shade Tree Fall Planting!
Volunteers will meet at 9AM on November 15th at Triangle Park. Bring a shovel and gloves, or borrow a set! We need all the support we can muster to plant 17 trees!
Students are welcome to volunteer and we will sign volunteer hour forms on the spot!

Halloween is Friday, 10/31/2025
Halloween at the Hall
Stop by Borough Hall and by the Fire Station to trick or treat, where Mayor Gamal Sherif and Morton Rutledge Fire Company volunteers will be handing out treats! 6 to 8 pm.
Swarthmore Police Department
As shared by Chief Stufflet in our recent Borough Council session, the Swarthmore PD will be handing out candy to trick or treaters again this year. Please be aware of increased foot traffic throughout the night and, to our trick or treaters, watch out for vehicles whenever you cross the street.
Teal Pumpkin Project!
You can still add your house to the Teal Pumpkin Project Map to indicate you are carrying non-food treats! This is a great option to help children with allergies have a successful Halloween.

Senator Tim Kearney’s Diaper Drive:
Senator Kearney’s office is coordinating a diaper drive in partnership with the YMCA of Eastern Delaware County. These donations will benefit families unable to afford these materials.
They are accepting donations of new and unused packages of diapers, baby formula, and wipes through December 12th. Drop Off is available at a variety of locations, including the Lansdowne, Ridley Area, and Springfield YMCAs. You can also drop donations off at the Media and Upper Darby District Offices of Kearney.

Food Drive - Delaware County
Delaware County Council is organizing a food drive on Saturday, November 8th from 9AM-12PM at Cardinal O’Hara High School (1701 South Sproul Rd, Springfield)
To donate, please check the flier for accepted items and drop them off that day. Flyer attached.
Activities Committee:
Next Game Night is 11/19 at 6:30 pm in the lower borough hall.
Join us for our Annual Tree Lighting on 12/1 at 7 pm. Come and start the season off with some hot cocoa and treats, too.
Interested in helping with borough events? Come to the next activities meeting on Wednesday the 22nd, at 7:30 pm in the borough hall. All are welcome!
Lastly, in order to put on these events, we depend entirely from donations to the Rutledge Activities Committee. So, if you have not made a donation, please consider donating by cash or check before the year runs out. Your donation is also tax-deductible.

Ad Hoc Historic Commission
The Ad Hoc Historic Commission has officially begun their meetings and has scheduled their meetings on the third Wednesday each month through June of 2026. The commission has already begun project ideas, public engagement, and Semiquincentennial planning! All residents are invited to join.

Panther Pajama Run - November 8th
The 2025 Panther Pajama Run is scheduled for November 8th at 9AM. Sign up for a 5K or 1.2 mile Family Fun Run to raise funds for projects that promote the standard of excellence in our Wallingford Swarthmore School District!
Races will be professionally timed and awards given to the top three overall, top three by age group, and Best Pajamas!

Rutledge Shade Tree Commission: Shade Tree Commission's upcoming tree-planting? It will be on November 15, and we're asking that volunteers meet at Triangle Park at 9:00AM. This is the largest planting ever, and we could use all the help we could get!

Sanitation Committee
Next Yard Waste is Friday November 7th
Two yard waste collections a month will continue through November then we will return to only one collection in December.
Political sign recycling event next Friday and Saturday. See flyer below.
It appears, all sorts of signs are accepted.
If you are putting away the summer clothes and pulling out the winter clothes, consider bringing your unwanted items to our Textile Bin located in the driveway of the borough office.
