Resident Survey for our new Sanitation!
Rutledge Shade Tree Commission - ArbNet Accreditation
In the Spring and Summer of 2023, the Rutledge Tree Shade Commission started a tree survey of Borough residents' trees. There are many tree lovers and tree tenders in the Borough. Walking, jogging and cycling through Rutledge is a real pleasure because of our tree canopy and the beautiful landscaping and gardens.
In addition to our Spring and Fall tree plantings, a new project of the Shade Tree Commission is to label and catalogue the trees for educational purposes–celebrating our trees! We are working towards having the Borough accredited as an Arboretum Level 1 under the ArbNet organization (www.arbnet.org).
RSTC started this project by labeling the first 11 trees that are visible from the Borough's sidewalks. To be accredited as an Arboretum Level 1, we will need to have a minimum of 25 different species, varieties or cultivars of trees and woody plants. The earlier survey confirms the Borough has well over this number and we hope to reach it soon. A map and educational resources will also be provided to residents and neighbors.
If you want to participate in this Arboretum project and/or get a label for your tree contact the Shade Tree Commission at rutledge....@gmail.com. To find out more on the Rutledge Shade Tree Commission go to
