Activities Committee:

Activities Meeting

The next activities meeting is scheduled for 8/27 at 7:30 at the borough hall to begin planning for fall events and since Delco Arts week is October 4th to the 11th, we are hoping to plan a few art related events around those dates.  Last September we sent out an Artist Survey's gauging interest in sharing our talents.  If anyone is still interested in participating in such an event, please reach out to Sue Hunt at suehun...@gmail.com.

Donations to Rutledge Activities

As stated in our annual appeal letter, the Rutledge Activities Committee's goal is to plan fun, family friendly events throughout the year.  Events like Happy Hours, Halloween Grow and Glow, Tree Lighting, Luminaries, Bingo Night, Snow Jam, Spring Celebration, Earth Day, 4th of July and others.  These events are funded entirely through your generous donations and this year is no different.  While we realize there has been an increase in the cost of living, our donations seem to have taken a hit this year as well.  Thus, if you can, please make a donation to the Rutledge Activities Committee.  It is tax-deductible and a great way to support your community.

Sanitation Committee

Next Yard Waste is Friday August 15th

Yard waste will continue twice a month through November on the first and third Fridays of the month.  Grass clippings are accepted now, but please refrain from putting yard waste out on trash days as we are paying an additional fee for these collections twice a month and never, ever place yard waste in plastic bags. Plastic bags, while sturdy and convenient, can't be emptied at the facility or by our hauler. Lastly, please make every effort to keep yard waste either contained in a toter, personal trash can, or bound in twine.  If you haven't noticed, yard waste collections are completed by one solo worker.  Keeping yard waste contained inside your can; make it easier for the worker to dispose of your waste.

We are still looking for responses to our Spring Sanitation Survey.

Still looking for 50 responses to our Sanitation Survey.  Help us meet our goal.  Right now we are at 44! Resident Survey for our new Sanitation!

The Traveling Glass Bin is back at the Swarthmore Public Works facility.  One of the benefits of using the glass bin is that this glass is 100% recycled in the state of PA!

Recloth Earth - Textile Recycling has come to the borough!  We are partnering with Recloth Earth and now have a textile bin located in the driveway next to the borough office.   Donated used, good condition clothing will be redistributed locally (Norristown and Kensington) bi weekly.

Check out their website:  https://reclothearth.com.

Electronic Waste - We are hoping to schedule anv ewaste event sometime in September/October.  Stay tuned for dates and details!

Trash Cans Cannot Be At the Curb more than 24 hours before collection

There has been an increased amount of items being left out for trash for longer periods of time.  While we appreciate that many residents are hoping scrappers or curb alerts will get items collected, please be mindful that large items block sidewalks and are trip hazards. If items are not picked up quickly, those items should be pulled back. If the item is to be disposed of and is a bulk item, a call to SEM is needed the Friday before trash collection. There is no fee and it is limited to one per week.
