Activities Committee

  • The next Activities Meeting is scheduled for 1/29 at 7:30 pm in the borough hall.

  • The first event of 2025 will be Bingo on Friday 2/7.  Doors open at 6:30.

    • You're also invited to bring at least one non-perishable donation for local food banks to help those in need.

    • As an extra bonus, you will receive one raffle ticket for each non-perishable, non-expired food item that you bring (10 tix max).

    • Anyone interested in helping or getting donations, contact Sue Hunt.

Sanitation Committee

  • Our hauler has requested to move Yard Waste to the first Mondays through April, 2025 based on our load volumes. So our next Yard Waste is Monday, February 3rd.

  • We received several questions regarding toter placement following pick up. We have confirmed with our hauler that toters will be rolled back to the curb side but left in the street to avoid blocking of sidewalks. Due to the size of toters, this has been determined as the safer option for pedestrians.

  • Our Transition Grace Period is ending, here are a few reminders:

    • Cardboard must be within toters—please take the time to fold / cut cardboard down to fit into the containers

      • This is based on the processing guidelines from the Material Recovery Facility as wet/contaminated cardboard cannot be accepted.

    • All addresses are in the SEM system now, residents should now have a smoother experience while calling SEM regarding bulk pick ups, concerns, or extra toter requests.

  • The Traveling Glass Bin, which Rutledge had for one week in December of 2023, is now located at the Swarthmore Public Works yard. This glass is 100% recycled in Pennsylvania.  While it is a little further, please consider recycling your glass there!

Rutledge Borough Permits, Inspections, and Fees

Rutledge Borough Council has recently adopted the updated Property Maintenance Plan and as such has updated our Schedule of Fees for 2025. You can review this update on the Rutledge Borough Forms page.

Upcoming lane closures will allow crews to relocate a sewer line and construct foundations for a pier that will support the extension of the new covered area over I-95 and Columbus Boulevard.

  • Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:

    • Beginning Monday, July 15, through mid-2025, southbound Columbus Boulevard will be reduced from three-lanes-to-two between Race Street and Market Street, and from three-lanes-to-one between Market Street and Walnut Street

    • Northbound Columbus Boulevard is currently reduced to two lanes weekdays between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM for utility construction at that same location.

Thank you,
