Dr. LaSala
I have a reporter who is interested in interviewing a young African American gay, lesbian or trans person. See below. Please contact me or him if you are interested or know someone. (He will be interviewing me also)
Dr. L.
Hello Dr. LaSala:
My name is Christopher Nelson and I'm a reporter with theGrio.com. If you're unfamiliar with theGrio it's NBC News' African-American oriented news site. As the holiday season approaches we're working on a story about young people who might use their visits home as an opportunity to "come out" to their families. I'm writing to see if a) you would know where I might be able to find one or two young African-Americans who have dealt with this situation in the New York city area, b) an African-American family who has had to confront the issue in the New York city area, or c) if you have any research on the "coming out" experiences of African-Americans either solo or compared to other groups.
We're looking to do both a video and a text piece for our site.
Any assistance you are able to provide would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your attention to this e-mail.
Regards,
Christopher
