My name is Christopher Nelson and I'm a reporter with theGrio.com. If you're unfamiliar with theGrio it's NBC News' African-American oriented news site. As the holiday season approaches we're working on a story about young people who might use their visits home as an opportunity to "come out" to their families. I'm writing to see if a) you would know where I might be able to find one or two young African-Americans who have dealt with this situation in the New York city area, b) an African-American family who has had to confront the issue in the New York city area, or c) if you have any research on the "coming out" experiences of African-Americans either solo or compared to other groups.

We're looking to do both a video and a text piece for our site.

Any assistance you are able to provide would be much appreciated.

Dear Michael LaSala,

Hello, my name is Yuko Inzana, LCSW. I am the Clinical Director at LifeTies, Inc., a non-profit organization for at-risk youth in Trenton, NJ. My supervisor, Mr. Aaron Chavis, COO, told me to contact you since we enjoyed your book "Coming Out, Coming Home: Helping Families Adjust to a Gay or Lesbian Child" and thought that you might know someone who might be interested in the positions.

LifeTies, Inc has two group home programs for teenagers. One is Triad House, a group home program for GLBTQ friendly youth; and the other is Rainbow House, a group home for medically frail female youth. We are currently looking for two LSWs (or MSW graduates who are working on obtaining LSW) for the Social Service Coordinators at the group home programs. We believe that this position will provide an excellent experience for new MSW graduates.
