How long your film rolls and online files will be kept::

Your film rolls are kept at lab 36+ for a month, after that they will be sent to a storage. Digital files on Google Drive are kept for 3 months and for good on their hard drives.

Nadar lab has quite an attractive deal: by spending 75-80k, you will have a roll of 135mm Fuji C200/ Kodak 200/ Vista 200/ Vista 400 film together with developing and scanning. As Nadar is an official distributor, the price is competitive.

First impression:

Located inside a small alley, AEG lab is quite hard to find and the road is crowded during rush hour. The space is humble, but their owner is lovely and approachable. Free green tea and homemade wine is also a bonus. AEG is a shorthand for Anh Em Group, meaning brothers, as the owner first opened it together with his two friends as a space for people who love the analog medium. AEG lab has been running for 5 years despite not being close to the city center and not providing any other service.

So trying to get a laos visa in hanoi vietnam during tet is impossible (the laos embassy is closed). And thats a fact. But I have opted to go for the visa-on-arrival flying into the Airport in Laos (also to avoid the 22 hour bus ride from Hell, or so im told).

I was wondering if anyone could tell me if there will be any problem with this - but the trouble is I dont have passport photos and dont know where to get any in Hanoi. Will I be ok to get a visa anyway without the pictures? I dont care if they charge a bit extra or whatever. I just dont want to get there and have them tell me no dice because I dont have a few lousy pictures. THanks a lot for anyones help!

Even Vietnamese have to have passport photos and other identification photos on documents. I would find the nearest photo shop and ask them, if they can't do it perhaps they can direct you. Even your embassy in Vietnam may be able to give you some advice - if they are open!

Where are you right now? Why can't you get your photo taken at the place you are presently at? With today's technology getting a passport or visa photograph is pretty easy. I think that a photo for Laos may be 2X2 in. but verify. Get some extra photos it will only be a few cents more anyway.

Run a Google check and see what passport photo services or photo studios are available in Hanoi. Communist countries always have lots of ID photos taken to keep their people in line. Only fly in the ointment is will the stores be open during TET?

I was in HaNoi over Tet back in '06. Almost everything was closed, but not the photo shops. You can have them take a few with your camera, print and cut them to size. Simple, cheap way to solve the problem. Or have them take them with their passport camera.

I landed at SGN with the 'visa on arrival' system last year. A couple behind me had no visa photos. The VN Imm guy said, "no problem", took out a Polaroid and charged them an additional $5.00. Laos will probably have the same equipment. I would get them done today at a HaNoi photo shop.

But a note to future Tet travellers... if you travel durning this time, do try to plan ahead. Get visas in advance, pictures, tickets, whatever. Its possible to find these things but it is far more difficult as just about everyone in vietnam has closed their shop, is drinking, or is eating. That being said, Tet rules.
