With all the possibilities it offers, Primacy 2 can meet all the needs you have today. And those you have in the future too. How? Thanks to its many features that can easily be added throughout its life: double-sided printing, 200-card feeder, encoders, lamination module, LCD panel. You can install these new options yourself very easily, and from the comfort of your own premises.

Mechanical locking by key on the Primacy 2 prevents the printer from being opened. Access to the interior of the machine and to the feeder is only possible if you are in possession of the key. In other words, consumables (cards, ribbons, etc.) and all components that could be stolen (such as encoders) are protected.

QR (quick response) codes are unique, two-dimensional (2D) barcodes that hold information and data. Compared to a one-dimensional (1D) barcode which can hold up to 25 characters, QR codes are capable of housing over 4,000 alphanumeric characters in a single defined area.

QR code popularity is a direct result of this technology's flexibility, ease of use, and endless usage possibilities. With the evolution and augmentation of smartphones and the availability of QR code-scanning barcode apps in the marketplace today, QR codes serve an important function in social media, networking, and online marketing campaigns.

So, what does this mean to you and your ID card program? The vast majority of companies require employees, contractors, and temporary employees to wear ID badges, for visual security, access control, or both. For an additional layer of tracking and security, organizations incorporate the use of barcodes on ID cards.

By putting a QR code on a photo ID card or badge, you can instantly retrieve data from that ID credential. This streamlines time and attendance tracking, security access control, membership data verification, and much more.

Adding QR codes to your ID issuance program is as easy as finding the right ID card software. Five of the leading ID card software brands we carry have the ability to add these codes to ID cards, including:

If you are configuring a bar code reader, select one or more bar code symbologies to accept for all bar code readers attached to a device. The default selections are Code 3 of 9, Interleaved 2 of 5, and Code 128.

A license activation code for the PLUS edition can only be used on one computer at a time (for more details, refer to FAQ How Do I Upgrade to PLUS Edition?)
Printing will be possible as long as the Badgy printer is plugged-in to the adequate computer via USB.

From the top bar, click on the barcode icon and choose either 1D barcode or 2D barcode.
It is then possible to edit the advanced parameters of the barcode from the Properties pane displayed on the right.

There are two ways to upgrade to the PLUS edition.
In the first case, you own a Badgy200: connecting the printer to your computer and launching the software automatically upgrades to the PLUS edition.
In the second case, you own a Badgy100, you have a license activation code and an Internet connection.
Check that your license has been activated by clicking on File>Badge Studio License: the edition version is displayed.

Vcard allows you to encode the information displayed on a business card in a QR code. When scanning the QR code with a QR code reader application, a person can create a new contact in their phone, locate the company on a map application, call the registered phone number, send an email to the registered email address, copy or share the information.

Generally, the lower end editions of Asure ID, Cardpresso and Zebra CardStudio will give you access to the card design side of the software, manual data entry and basic printing options. The feature sets increase with higher tier editions. 2D barcodes; data imports; conditional data fields; print rules; batch printing and smart card encoding are some of the features to consider.

These advantages include enhanced security due to control over sensitive data, quick verification of employees at entry points, and the ability to customise the information encoded based on specific access control needs. QR codes also improved tracking and reporting of employee movements, simplifying administrative tasks and reducing the burden on HR. They are cost-effective, making them a practical choice compared to other security options.

The information you choose to put in the QR code depends on your organisation's needs. Common details include your employee ID number, access privileges, name, department, and other relevant identification information. Make sure that the information is accurate and up-to-date.

You first need to generate a QR code which you can do for free using online QR code generators or an alternative to this would be having your IT department or card provider generate one for you. Then, place your QR code onto your ID card design. Alternatively, we offer our own staff id printing service and QR codes are printed as an optional extra onto the card as a security feature.

One way to create a QR Code is using an online QR code generator for ID cards. However, many hide surprise payments or will disable QR codes and require payment. If you do use this route, check the reputation of the company on places such as TrustPilot and read reviews, and check the small prints in agreements.
