After a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 on my Dell Inspiron n5010 Laptop, I can't install the ATI drivers! How I can fix this? Because my laptop gets very hot & is too slow! the battery runs immediately! :( Gretts!
Following your advice I tried and successfully installed the dell wiki drivers for Dell Inspiron 15(N5010) windows 8.1 pro 64 bit drivers. Some of the other drivers I tried with the windows 7 64 bit version. That worked too. However according to the device manager some of these devices listed below are showing that " No drivers are installed for this device". But the events page in device manager shows that drivers are installed in the same time I updated my drivers. Those devices belong to System Devices and they are:
1>Intel Chipset device software(via Intel driver update utility). 2> intel Management engine interface(downloaded from dell wiki) 3> Intel HM57 express chipset driver(dell wiki) 4> Intel rapid storage technology(dell wiki). All the drivers showed successfully installed after installation.
I am starting to wonder if those devices need any driver at all in the first place. I have checked with other computers running windows 7 as well as 8. These devices showed this same thing as mine. I am sending you 3 pics of a single device as an example. Thank you.
They are fine, Windows is in control of those (Digital signage is listed as Microsoft). The only time you would have an issue is if there was yellow exclamation marks next to them or they was listed as unknown. The reason it says no driver information is because none are specifically needed, Windows can do this itself.
