RUR-PLE has not been updated in quite a while now. Even if it were to be updated, Googlecode, where it is hosted, no longer allows to produce files ready to download: users must get new versions from the repository. New releases would have to be made available from some other sites. I have no plans to create new updates in the future.
I've decided a while ago to focus on a web-based version instead of a desktop program like rur-ple. It is called Reeborg's World and is available at
http://reeborg.ca. The robot world has changed slightly (for instance, Reeborg collects tokens instead of beepers) but the basics remains the same. Among the improvements, it is possible to create worlds that have well-defined goals which are checked automatically at the end of the program execution: I call this "test-driven learning". There are other minor improvements as well. However, one feature that is missing (compared with rur-ple) is that the line of code being executed is no longer highlighted. The tutorials have been rewritten and I am in the process of adding new tutorials.
Reeborg's world does not require logins, is free to use and does not track users.
If you do use it in a classroom environment, I would appreciate if you could contact me; I would like to create a "wall of fame" showing where Reeborg's world is being used.
