Why changing the password on the router worked, or why it somehow stopped working overnight, is a puzzle to me. I did go through some firewall settings on my laptop, I was messing with Stream what you hear, but not sure how they could have effected things here?

I had this issue as well, and tried the above to no avail. What worked was creating a new SSID with open authentication, factory resetting the play 1, connecting it to the new SSID, then adding mac authentication to the new SSID. Hope this helps someone.

This took me days to figure out unfortunately. Thanks to all before me... What worked for me: hooked up Sonos to Ethernet, checked channel setting in Sonos app network settings. It was set to 6. Then in router, updated firmware, set WiFi network mode to "WPA mixed" and channel number to 6. Tada...

What worked for me is disabling the 5 ghz network on my router (it has 2 antennas for 2.4ghz and 5ghz, both with the same ssid and password). After disabling it the Sonos box immediately accepted the password that it had rejected multiple times before.

The most frustrating part of the whole experience is that Sonos keeps telling you that the password you entered is wrong and doesn't offer any other option then to try again. And apparently there are quite a few things you can try to get it to work.

Having this issue with the Beam. Installed it and worked fine yesterday. I have tried troubleshooting - the Sonos has created its own network - but I get an error that says the wifi password is incorrect even though I can log into the same network with the password. Will give this a try! Thank you.

I have this problem every time the power goes out. I have a Sonos Beam and three Sonos Ones throughout the house. When the router comes back on following a power outage, it typically finds only the Beam and two of the Sonos Ones.

Had exactly the same issue. Repeated hard factory resets of my Sonos One (which had worked for a couple of years fault free then just dropped off the network) did not work. Went through the reset, add, password incorrect, connect to ethernet, device not found loop enough times to scream.

@PhoneHelperUK: Please can you try heading to Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi > On > Tap the cog to the right of your router > Forget > Toggle Wi-Fi off, then on again > Select your router from the list of available networks, and fill in the required fields. Let me know if this helps.

Even though other devices are unaffected, this doesn't rule out an issue with the router. It's good to cover all bases when diagnosing where the issue lies. If restarting your router hasn't helped, as suggested by @Pugs1957, test how your phone performs connecting to another router and see if the same issue persists.

Having the same issue with my month-old A54. I can connect to other networks, but am retired, so don't spend a lot of time on other networks. It's not a router issue. I've rebooted the router.

I can be connected for days and then all of a sudden it tells me it can't connect because the password is incorrect. I have not touched settings on my router and when I go in to my router and review the password and type EXACTLY as shown, I get the same error.

Oddly enough, I saw an option in settings for Wifi Direct and saw my Roku device, EVEN THOUGH I am supposedly disconnected from my Wifi, I was able to connect to my Roku. OBVIOUSLY that is NOT a router issue. It seems that I AM connected to my Wifi.

2 minutes later . . .I just trashed my router cache - it was not where you said above thread on my A54. For anyone else reading this, I had to go to Wifi Advanced Settings and then to Manage Networks and then click on my network and scroll down to the Trash icon. What a pain! Why wouldn't they make that more accessible as in other phones?

That worked and shows the connection again. Shall we take bets on how long until this happens again??

Basically I realized it was an app acting up. I deleted 3 apps from my phone. Bestbuy app, X (Twitter) and then Atom (movie ticket app). Then I restart the phone. It works all night yesterday. No more wifi password is incorrect issue. But thing is I just can't tell you which of the 3 apps is the culprit. And I am not downloading them again just to test them out. You will have to look into it

Both mine and my mom's A54 5G phones have been having the same issues. I believe it's a design flaw or software bug. It only started a few months after getting them and has been present since October-November 2023. Tried changing the wifi settings and all steps including resetting network settings without avail. We even switched from an AC router to a WiFi6 router and it still happened today.

With the Netgear routers, there is a connected device limit of 32 per band, so 32 devices on the 2.4gHz and 32 on the 5gHz. That's simultaneous connections. If you exceed that threshold whatever the newest devices attempting to connect are, even if they have connected before, will be denied. It took me a LOT of research but I can replicate this every time and even control which device won't connect as soon as I hit 32. In my case my solution was to move a number of devices from my 2.4gHz to my 5gHz band, and that solved everything.

I suspect the same limit would apply to the extenders, too, but what I don't know is if it's an aggregate on the router or 32 per extender. I don't have an extender so I cannot test, but if more than 32 devices are trying to connect simultaneously it seems like exactly the behavior I encountered. On my router I can go to Basic->Attached Devices and see what's connected on each band. I had to manually count.

Just started having this issue with my Nighthawk EX770 extender. I ran a software update on the extender yesterday and today I'm experiencing the "incorrect password" error on both of my iOS devices (iPhone 11 and iPad 8th gen) out of nowhere. Not sure if it's related to the update but a search through the forums hints at a recurring bug.Only had the extender since about April and it's worked fine until now.

My laptop devices, both MacBook Airs, are able to connect without issue. iOS devices are only able to connect to 2.4gh and not the 5gh network. The password for both is the same and hasn't changed. Forgetting the network and rejoining doesn't do the trick. I'm not running into the device limit on either network. Not entirely sure how to check for 'Smart Connect' or whether it will redo the trick, but I haven't tried resetting the extender yet since I'm currently working.

Thanks plemans! It took me a while to reset it, and beforehand my laptop was starting to constantly be booted off the 5G network. I'd switch to it seemingly successfully, and then it'd switch to the 2.4g network some minutes later. Luckily, resetting the extender to factory and setting it up from there seems to have done the trick so far.

For my problem it was a case of logging on to my router via a browser (e.g. using 192.168.1.254 as the ip address) and selecting a different wifi channel via the settings and allowing it all to reboot. There was no need to use dedicated software.

The same here, in this case it is an X1C, yesterday the X1C refused to connect, ther where no changes tho the network, the network is up and running with no problems to other equipment.
The X1C does not even see my network, so i connected an old accesspoint to my network with the same ID and password, now it is going again.
I have no clue why this happens and how to solve the problem with my original network.

If the X1C is not even listing your network (the one that you want), what I did was to do a factory reset. For me, at least, when it got to the network setup, it finally showed my network and I just needed to put in the password.

I got new cameras (4 pair) Yi Home cameras, able to read and scan, but always gets wifi password error, followed the link above, but not working. I tried all new cameras, all same error message.
My currents same type cameras are working fine now issue, please advice

Hi @keemhonk, if you delete one of your older cameras from the app, the reset and pair, do you get this error message?

Can you please let me know what models are the new cams and what model are your older ones?

@Badcamera Maybe you can try and -hack-Allwinner-v2

The latter lists the MIBAO G1 1296p dome as supported and offers a rich array of features otherwise not found and without loss of Yi cloud support. Could probably help with your connection problem too.

Hi, self set up for broadband and TV today, TV fine but no WiFi. Keeps saying password incorrect, we have all tried multiple times. Rebooted and reset the hub to no avail, repeated these actions with an advisor who has now escalated to the network team and someone is meant to be updating me in 4 hours.

If you access the HUB from a wired device, using 192.168.0.1 in a web browser, and the settings password on the base (NOT the WiFi password), does it display the same password ('WiFi password (security key)') as you are trying to use to connect devices?

Remove any ethernet cables from the Hub and hold the pinhole reset switch for 60 seconds. Do NOT reboot the Hub, just let it do it's thing. Note you will need the passwords from the bottom of the Hub afterwards, so make sure they are legible.

Hi @Tilly15,

Thank you for your post and welcome to our community forums. We're here to help.

I'm incredibly sorry to hear that you've been having some trouble connecting to the Wi-Fi network. Has the advice offered in this thread by our community so far helped at all or do you need some further assistance?

Thanks,

Before enabling the potent solutions to make the WiFi on iPhone/iPad up and running again, it is vital to understand what might be causing the issue in the first place. So we will explain why your iOS device keeps saying that you have entered the incorrect password in this section.

To keep the WiFi password more secure, users tend to use different symbols, numbers, and letters in both upper and lower case. Therefore, one could likely forget to enter the correct password to access the WiFi on iPhone/iPad. We recommend that you double-check whether the passcode you have entered is the correct one or not!
