Brainstorm: Factors to Consider When Determining Your Price

Determining how to price your services includes a healthy dash of
guesswork, a dollop experience, and a smidgen of number crunching -
how ever you look at it, the ingredient's determining your pricing
strategy is a difficult.

-- Are you having trouble figuring out how much to charge?
-- Should you charge by the hour or by the job?
-- Should you have a different hourly rate for different projects?
-- How best to explain pricing to clients?
-- What factors do give most weight?

Your Costs, Profits, Market Demand, Industry Standards, Skill
level, Experience, Business Strategy, Service, Who's the client?
Are you at a loss and not sure what to do next, or do you have a
feeling your pricing strategy is doing you a disservice?

Join us on June 24th for a Brainstorm event-- attendees will take
turns brainstorming the best approach to how to price your services
and how to build a method into your business, and we'll all help
people get to the next step.

This looks fab; I'll post it when I'm back at a proper computer.

Do we know who will he the professionals we are seeding the group
with? Charlene?

I'll ask Todd as well and add him back to this list.

I'm worried that we won't have the right mix of folks on Wednesday.

I re-posted the evening to the nextNY list asking for participation.

To stir the pot, I sent the email below to the organizers of a few Meetup freelancer groups.

Has anyone reach out to seed the evening?

Hi ____,

Best of luck resurrecting the Brooklyn Creative Freelance Group, it appears you are well along the way.

I wanted to let you know about The Runway Project, a our bi-weekly Meetup in the West Village.  The Runway Project was launched 3 months ago by Tony Bacigalupo to assist those affected by mass layoffs in the region.  It's a community-driven no-fee series of experiences-- all the organizers, speakers, educators are members of the NYC tech community.

We're looking for successful freelancers who are willing to share their experiences with newly independent workers to
help answer the important question "How do freelancers determine their price?"   We're looking for folks to bring their experiences to life at our next Meetup - "Brainstorm: Factors to Consider When Determining Your Price"  Wednesday June 24th @6:45pm <http://www.meetup.com/runwayproject/calendar/10456560>.   I'm reaching out to see if you might know of anyone interested in participating and sharing their experiences.

About The Runway Project
One member summed The Runway Project up this way... "It's a good way to get introduced to new ideas and share your ideas with others. Doing anything alone is a daunting task, this makes it all seem very do-able and realistic instead of just a pipe dream.  Having support is important when you're struggling on your own."

Reuters take on it..."Networks promise recession victims entrepreneurial edge"

I'm in search for someone to play host at this Wednesday's RWP Meetup?
Charlene...Todd...others? There's an event the same night that I'd
like to attend.

Can each of you check the RSVP list to see if you recognize folks who
are going to add their experience to the evening. I'm still concerned
that we don't have the amount of experience we're going to need.
