Elliot,

Sounds great! I'm copying the RP organizers who will let you know what time works best.

Best,
Tony

Hey Tony,

I just wanted to thank you for offering the chance to speak at NWC. I had a great time at the Runway Project event on Thursday and I'd be glad to be a part of it. If you've got a few free minutes in coming weeks, I wanted to come in (or out) and talk about what you'd want me to cover so I can really gear it toward the independent audience.

Let me know!

When I receive these I always stop and ponder 15 seconds or so, who is
responsible for catching one of these balls, and then I move on. Is
it clear to everyone who *should* be taking action on them
(specifically which individual)?

Thank you for bringing this up, Todd.

It is not clear, and a lot of these speakers are falling into the ether.

Can someone step up to handle organizing and keeping track of these things? Fredrick, I assume this falls to you, but I'll let you decide how best to handle it.

Thanks!
Tony

i have the same thoughts.

This is an issue we're going to run into with any speaker. Should we
try to get potential speakers to maybe attend/call into the
organizer's meeting on Thursdays?

I don't know if we're supposed to have a leader/organizer or not, or
what, but it would probably benefit things if we did. I suspect that
Tony, whether he wants the mantle or not, is perceived as the
organizer. Certainly that is the case externally, which is why people
contact him. It may make sense to more formally hand this
responsibility off, if someone want to claim it; and to communicate
that point of contact externally as well (and re-route things like
e-mail to "info" or whatever generic alias is set up).

Whom ever is the Organizer on meetup is going to be the one that people perceive as the organizer.
As for getting/contacting speakers, I think that if you bring the speaker in, it should be your job to pick up the ball, and contact the other organizers about when they should speak.

agreed about if you bring speaker in, it's your job to schedule them, etc.

But the issue is we have people randomly contacting us asking if we'd like them to speak. Who gets the ball then is what we're trying to suss out...

ideas:
what if we would rotate the responsibility on a monthly basis?
what if we get an intern to do it?
Sanford mentioned the wife of someone who was looking for "something to do..."

Can we have a meeting this week to discuss this and other ideas?
