Saturday Vinson Hill Route

Hi Runners,

This Saturday, November 23rd, we will start our long run at PDQ at 6:30 a.m. to run the Vinson specialty hill route.  This route can be 10 or 12 miles, depending on where you come back.  It includes campus roads, hills, roadside and some sidewalk, dirt trail thru Alfred Ring Park (or go around- they may still be working on trails) hills, and water stops every 2 - 3 miles.  Two stops have bathrooms.  PDQ restaurant is at corner of University Avenue and SW 34th Street, it is the old Grandy's, we park in the back.   Check out this map to remember the route:  on MapMyRun: 12.1 mi Vinson Specialty hill route      https://www.mapmyrun.com/us/gainesville-fl/vinson-specialty-hill-route-309713033

Races to come:  Next week! Thanksgiving morning, November 28th, is Turkey Trot Trail 5K and 10K race at Critter Creek Farm, again put on by Lloyd Clarke Sports!  (if you haven't yet visited the reopened store go do it!)  Register at runsignup.com  Saturday, December 7th is Tyler's Hope 15K and 5K on the Hawthorne Trail. Saturday, December 14th is the Santa Paws 5K and 10K at Westside Park.   FTC  Mary Andrews Marathon, half, and 4 person marathon relay is Sunday, January 19th, 2025, same day as Jekyll Island marathon, half, or 10K.  Saturday, January 25th is Newnan's Lake 15K.

Layer up tomorrow morn, it's supposed to feel like winter - 38 degrees!  I finished the marathon slow but sure, and I'm not ready to run long.  So i will join you for breakfast!  Watch over any new runners that join us please!
